Wheatland Electric Brings Power Plays to Local Ballparks This July

Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. is inviting members to enjoy America's pastime this summer with two Power Play events featuring free food, giveaways, and family-friendly fun at the ballpark.

This year's Power Plays will take place in Garden City and Great Bend, giving locals two opportunities to connect with us while cheering on hometown teams.

Power Play with the Garden City Wind on July 7

Wheatland Electric will team up with the Garden City Wind on Tuesday, July 7, at Clint Lightner Field for an evening of baseball and community fun.

The first 50 attendees will receive free admission to the sponsored game and a wristband for $1 beer. In addition, Wheatland will serve free hamburgers and hot dogs to the first 200 attendees beginning at 6 p.m. CDT.

Fans are encouraged to stop by early, enjoy the food and giveaways, and help fill the stands as the Garden City Wind take on the Blackwell Flycatchers from Oklahoma. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CDT.

The Garden City Wind compete in the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, an independent professional baseball league operating throughout the southwest and Great Plains regions.

Power Play with the Great Bend Bat Cats on July 15

The summer baseball fun continues on Wednesday, July 15, when Wheatland Electric hosts a Power Play with the Great Bend Bat Cats at Al Burns Memorial Field.

Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for the first 200 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6:30 p.m. CDT. Admission to the game is free, and fans can also enjoy $1 beer specials throughout the evening.

The Bat Cats will host the Hutchinson Monarchs in one of the team's home contests during the Jayhawk Collegiate League season. Community members are encouraged to attend, support the team, and enjoy a summer evening at the ballpark.

The Great Bend Bat Cats compete in the Jayhawk Collegiate League, a nonprofit summer collegiate baseball league featuring teams from across Kansas.
