Patterson Health Center Receives $1,000 Sharing Success Grant
Anthony, Kan. – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WEC) announced today that Patterson Health Center has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Sharing Success Fund to support Women's Night 2026, a community event focused on preventive healthcare, wellness education, and access to screening services for women in Harper County and surrounding communities.
Patterson Health Center is a nonprofit critical access hospital dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare close to home. In addition to medical services, the organization offers health education, preventive screenings, and outreach programs that improve access to care throughout the region.
Women's Night 2026 will build upon the success of last year's event, which served approximately 60 women and provided 14 free 3D mammography screenings for uninsured and underinsured women. The event offers preventive health resources, educational opportunities, and connections to local organizations that support healthy lifestyles and informed healthcare decisions.
For women in Harper County and surrounding rural communities, Women's Night helps remove barriers to preventive healthcare while raising awareness about the importance of early detection. The event encourages participants to take a proactive role in their health and well-being while connecting them with valuable local resources. The grant will help ensure Women's Night continues to provide meaningful preventive health services for women across the region.
The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the WEC Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012. Since then, the application process has been moved internally and is currently handled directly by WEC. This year, WEC and CoBank have once again each contributed $10,000 to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted. Since 2012, WEC’s Sharing Success Fund has made $225,000 available to community-based organizations and projects across their service territory.
Community based organizations interested in receiving funding from the WEC Sharing Success Fund can apply online. Questions should be referred to Alli Conine, director of member services and corporate communications, at 620-874-4563 or aconine@weci.net.
