Greeley County Schools Receives $1,000 Sharing Success Grant

Tribune, Kan. – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WEC) announced today that Greeley County Elementary School has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the WEC Sharing Success Fund to help purchase alphabet and phonics manipulatives, phoneme-grapheme mapping boards, book bins, and storage solutions for their first-grade classroom.

These materials will provide every first-grade student with access to hands-on, evidence-based literacy resources that support phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and spelling instruction aligned with the Science of Reading. Students will begin using the resources throughout October and continue benefiting from them as they build strong foundational reading skills that are essential for long-term academic success. 

Greeley County Schools serves students from preschool through 12^th grade and is committed to providing a high-quality education to students while meeting their individual needs and fostering academic growth, leadership, and lifelong learning. 

The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the WEC Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012. Since then, the application process has been moved internally and is currently handled directly by WEC. This year, WEC and CoBank have once again each contributed $15,000 to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted. Since 2012, WEC’s Sharing Success Fund has made $225,000 available to community-based organizations and projects across their service territory.
